1/5/09 Welcome back to school in the year 2009. We hope this new year brings good health and happiness to everyone. We are excited to start this new year with the kids. There are lots of wonderful activities and learning that will be taking place.
Reports card went home on Jan. 5th. If your child did not bring theirs home, please contact their homeroom teacher.
We will soon be celebrating the 100th day of school. It is very important that your child be in school that day and every day. We are also looking forward to Read Across America week. Look for notices to come home telling about all the terrific things that will be happening at school.
12/12 Desert Winds first Library Night was a fabulous success. Many students and their families attended. Students were able to get library cards. Tours of the library were given. It was a wonderful night sharing all the great things about the library with our Desert Winds families.
We wish for you all a healthy and Happy Thanksgiving.
We are looking forward to a new event for Desert Winds. We will be having a Library Night December 10th. It will be held at the Juniper branch of the Public Library at 19th Avenue and Union Hills. There will be tours of the library, story-telling, and other wonderful activities. Be sure to come and join us for the exciting new event. Most of the students should be getting the library cards they signed up for before Dec. 10th. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
The Fall Festival is coming to Desert Winds. It will be Friday, November 14th. There will be lots of games, food, and fun. We look forward to seeing you there. EL will be having a Duck Pond this year. If you would like to volunteer some time and have a lot of fun, please let us know. We are also putting together a "Pamper Basket" to sell at the festival. If you can contribute an item to include in the basket we would appreciate it. We are looking for items like lotions, soft socks, teas and cocoas, books, and other items that could be used to pamper someone.
Conferences are coming!!! We will be having conferences the week of October 14th. We look forward to sharing your children's successes. If you schedule a conference and find you can not attend, please call the school and let us know.
Welcome back to school for the year 2008/2009. We are looking forward to a wonderful year with your children. There have been some changes to our program as directed by the state of Arizona. We will have a multi-grade (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) English Development classroom this year being taught by Mrs. Lewis. There will also be an hour of ELD Kindergarten with Mrs. Hunt. Our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders will be getting 2 hours of skill instruction in the afternoon with Mrs. Hunt. We are excited about these new programs and know that with your support and the children's best effort this will be the best year at Desert Winds.
